Unconventional Weddings with Jodie from EllaBella Weddings and Events
Here at Your Suffolk Wedding we were very interested in our supplier EllaBella Weddings and Events and what they offer as services to you, our couples. We got in contact with them to see if we could ask them a few questions. The business is owned by Jodie (she/her) and has been in the wedding industry for while starting off with providing wedding stationary, she found her niche in alternative wedding planning and officially opened her business EllaBella Weddings and Events in 2020. She prides herself on being a LGBTQ+ ally and is leading the way for the wedding industry to be more inclusive and supportive of love, no matter who you are, who you love or your disabilities. Jodie will be your cheerleader throughout the entire planning process, giving you the confidence to have the day you both truly want (not what auntie Karen thinks it should be, as Jodie says).
So we asked Jodie, what is a “Unconventional” Wedding?
Jodie: “Unconventional weddings are for any couples who want to throw out the rule book and have their wedding day completely their way. From an traditions they don’t feel comfortable with, to bringing their hobbies into the entire day, to getting married on top of a mountain, anything goes!”
Q: What has been your favourite non-traditional wedding moment?
Jodie: “Having R2D2 being ring bearer at a Star Wars themed wedding, it was epic and so much fun!”

Q: Do you cater specifically for the LGBTQ+ community?
Jodie: ” I cater to any couples that believe I am the right fit for them. I am fully inclusive and am passionately involved in the LGBTQ+ community and do a lot of charity work for the disabled community because I believe everyone has the right to marry whoever they are in love with.
Q: What made you want cater with LGBTQ+ community?
Jodie: “I feel the LGBTQ+ community are very underrepresented in the wedding industry and not always on purpose. I hope, very soon to help more businesses make their brands more inclusive. The community don’t always know who they can reach out to when choosing their suppliers so I will always use LGBTQ+ run suppliers or allies for my clients”
Q: What services do you provide for your couples?
Jodie: ” I offer guidance planning for couples who want to plan the wedding themselves. On the month planning to coordinate the day and take the pressure off the month leading up to the wedding. I also provide a full plan from start to finish so the couple can completely sit back and relax whilst the magic happens!
Q: Very cheeky, but where do you class yourself, £, ££ or £££?
Jodie: “I would say I’m a bit of ££ and £££ depending on what you need me for. I offer monthly payments to spread the cost too”
Q: What makes you the perfect planner?
Jodie: “I would be the perfect wedding planner for anyone who wants to be outside the box, not be the same as everyone else and to have their day, their way.”
Q: What is the most random request you have been asked to carry out being a wedding planner?
Jodie: “Most random request I’ve had so far is for a Viking themed wedding to make different movie themed table centrepieces with a hint of star wars sprinkled throughout! And it’s going to be bloody awesome!”
Q: And lastly, what advice do you have for engaged couples?
Jodie: “My advice to any couple is, don’t get hung up on the “shoulds” of wedding planning. You really can do your day however you want and you won’t regret it!”
Jodie really is an amazing person to speak with and the passion she has for you to have a wedding that is unique to you and your personalities is amazing. Jodie covers Suffolk and Essx but will travel further. You can find her contact information on our website!
