We were so excited to host our first collaborative meeting and was so happy with the support we received from local wedding suppliers! We had a complete mixture of suppliers from florists, celebrants and venue stylists.
We started the morning by having a very informal chat about our businesses, what we do, how long we have all been in the business for. A lot of businesses had opened recently either just before COVID-19 or during the pandemic which was interesting to see how COVID has effected their businesses throughout that time and how they adapted their businesses to keep up with demand.
One company, Evelyn Rose Floristry used her skills in floristry to provide a flower service for her local community. She mentioned how she had taken flowers that hadn’t sold on the day to her local care homes to brighten up the residents day and she said how this helped her gain a client base during the pandemic.
Another company Cevent hire and balloons spoke about how they introduced balloons to their hire business after finding that the local community was in need of balloons to celebrate birthdays and zoom parties during the pandemic and this also helped build a local client base. They also brought a children’s favourite character costume and did window visits to brighten children’s day and all the proceeds went to the local hospital at Bury St Edmunds.
We spoke about some issues we have in regards to our business with social media coming up a few times as something that people struggle to keep updated and using it as a gallery rather than a business opportunity to grow and gain more clients, we helped solve some of these issues in house and are coming together to bring to you social media workshops to help further with these issues.
It was a lovely morning, making great new connections and breaking the barriers of that “competition” feeling.
The meetings are held at breakout in Long Melford, Suffolk. These will be a monthly Meeting.
Meetings are £10 and include a 2 hour informal chat sharing problems and finding solutions over pastries and coffee.
